But first, what are chakras and what role does the chakra system play in our mental, physical, and emotional health? Each chakra is recognized as a focal point relating to spiritual, physical and emotional energies. The seven major chakras correspond to specific aspects of our consciousness and have their own individual characteristics and functions. Each has a corresponding relationship to one of the various glands of the body’s endocrine system, as well as to one of the seven colors of the rainbow spectrum.
Ultimately, you will begin to recognize that the various aspects of your being all work together, and that each aspect is as much a part of the whole as the others.
Keeping a chakra open is a bit more of a challenge, but not so difficult when you have awareness.
The following steps describe how to practice a chakra meditation to balance and align your chakra energies. Chakra meditation begins by sitting in a comfortable position with your spine straight, but not ridged. Next in chakra meditation you want to visualize the beating of the heart and the perfect function of the body. Next in chakra meditation you should imagine a life giving energy that you are breathing in along with the air. The last step in chakra meditation is to visualize all the chakras at once being feed by this energy coming in from the breath and up from the earth. The word ‘Chakras’ translates from Sanskrit as wheels and are understood to describe the energy network within our subtle bodies. This neural network, otherwise known as a neuronal plexus, is a network of cells concentrated with neuropeptide transmitters.
However, injury, stagnation or neglect can create a blockage at one or more of the nodal points and this has a negative effect on all of them. Neuropeptides represent the source of our emotional experience, as a result the chakras or neuronal plexus, are the transformational points or event horizon, of the three layers of the human experience – body, mind and spirit. Kundalini means “that which is coiled” and is often associated with a serpent, its life force energy that moves up through your chakras clearing out any energetic blockages.
The Kundalini experience is often associated with shaking or involuntary movements, called kriyas in yogic teachings, and are a normal part of the experience. It should be remembered that awakening the Kundalini is not a singular experience, it’s part of a healthy, holistic spiritual evolution in consciousness, connecting us to the subtlest levels of our human nature. In the end and with practice and evolutionary growth of the chakra system, the Kundalini becomes the means for the human spirit to connect with the Divine. So, in the end, if all these seven energy centers are very, very clear then you’ll have all this energy flowing through you. But if there is some constriction within you in terms of creativity, compassion or expression, in terms of giving yourself permission, in terms of moving yourself forward getting stuff done, in terms of connection to spirit.

Kundalini is awaking and opening the energy centers so that snake, that coil of energy can come from outside of us, into us, and be expressed through us. When you can get that flow through you without any obstruction, constriction or restriction then you will be more aligned, life will be more fulfilling and those aspects of yourself; your groundedness, your creativity, you’re getting it done, your compassion, yourself expression, your connection to spirit and your infinite possibilities, will be in their most optimized and balanced state. The Chakra meditation technique is a complete health solution that will purify your body, mind and spirit.
In Indian traditions, Chakras are the energy points or nodes in the body, the points through which nadi pass. Meditating on each of the chakras in turn helps to stimulate the flow of prana, or life force, around the body. Here is a simple 8-step guide to practicing chakra meditation (And don’t miss the short video at the end of this article on How To Awaken Your Chakras).
They are centers of force located within your body, through which you receive, transmit, and process life energies. The chakras are the network through which your mind, body, and spirit interact as one system. In this way, you bring the various aspects of your consciousness from the physical to the spiritual, into a harmonious relationship.
A big part of meditation is learning how to acknowledge, integrate, and accept all levels of your being. Each of the seven main chakras contains bundles of nerves and major organs as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being.
If you allow too much hair to go into the drain, the bathtub will back up with water, stagnate and eventually bacteria and mold will grow. Since mind, body, soul, and spirit are intimately connected, awareness of an imbalance in one area will help bring the others back into balance.
Then one by one the solar plex chakra, heart chakra, throat chakra, head chakra and finally the crown chakra, infusing each with the life giving energy. Remember to see the chakras and your aura become brighter, clearer and super charged from this life giving energy.
Start meditating today and release the source of your stress with these proven meditation techniques. In the Vedic understanding there are seven primary energy centers which correspond to major hormonal systems or neural networks the along the spine.
These networks are interdependently connected to one another and when nourishing one center it as a positive effect on all of them. When this life force energy reaches the crown chakra it opens you up to the realization of your full potential as an understanding of the nature of reality.
By vibrating and dancing, yoga and breath work, by bring your awareness to each chakra and opening it up, a process called chakra tuning or chakra toning. Different religions and spiritualities have different theories regarding the number, order, and position of chakras in the body. The crown chakra, for instance, is associate with spirituality, consciousness, and inspiration. This helps to loosen and free the body and mind, boosting wellbeing, helping you to stay healthy and vibrant. Each of the seven chakras contains nerves, energy, and major organs that are essential for psychological, physical, spiritual, and emotional health.

Since everything is moving, it’s essential that our seven main chakras stay open, aligned, and fluid. The mind will most likely wonder, just gentle bring it back to the breath and maintain the focus on each inhalation and exhalation you take.
Imagine a clockwise swirl of energy and the energy you breath in feeds this swirl and makes it strong and brighter. Take your time with this and do not worry about spending more time on one chakra if you need to.
Whether you want to relax, stimulate creativity, gain enlightenment, or cultivate compassion and mindfulness, we help you learn how to let go. The second is associated with creativity and the third represents our ability to manifest our intention and desires. And the seventh chakra represents the union between our individuality and our universality. By putting your attention on the location of a chakra and intoning its vibration, its specific sound, by visualizing the specific color, you begin to activate it. Learning to skillfully control the chaotic energy of the mind and emotion is accomplished by using meditation to find inner balance, harmony and flow.
These rivers lead the prana, the water, to large nodes, similar to lakes, through which prana passes.
But the conventional agreement is that there are seven primary chakra in the body, all of which are located at a point on the spine, ranging from the crown of the head to the pelvis. By meditating on the energy of the crown chakra you will stimulate the crow chakra and free the energy within, which will in turn lead to development of the associated characters. Become aware of how the breath is the life giving force of the entire organism you call your body. As this energy infuses your aura, imagine the aura growing stronger, brighter and being charged with this incredible energy. So by mediating on the crown chakra you will become more spiritual, more conscious, and more inspired. Visualize it nourishing all the muscles, organs and cells of your body and then see it removing the toxins from your body which you expel with each breath. Do this step gradually, let the aura grow brighter little by little and keep this energy flowing in with each breath. Each chakra will influence the other chakras and energizing a higher chakra before a lower chakra could have an adverse effect. People who are depressed, for instance, may have a blockage at their heart chakra or crown chakra, which is preventing them from being emotionally balanced. By meditating on their heart chakra or crown chakra they can free prana, which will energise their body and mind and return them to health.
