A mindful meditation practice brings your mind to a deep silent, wide open and all knowing space. Practicing mindful meditation for the past ten years has completely changed my life in so many ways. Mindful meditation can be practiced anywhere, however, I have personally found that my environment to be a huge part of my ability to stay with the practice.
Because the purpose of mindful meditation is to develop a clear mind, you want to ensure that the way you hold your body throughout the day also supports your clarity.
Focus requires eliminating all distractions and keeping your attention on only one task at a time.
During times like washing the dishes, taking a shower, or even going for a walk to the bathroom, I take this time to focus on my task and witness the thoughts that come up from my mind. Aimee is a holistic therapist, meditation teacher, writer and the executive director of Indigo International.

Mindfulness simply refers to being focused in the present rather than the past or the future. For example, the simple exercise of concentrating on your breath is considered a type of mindfulness - by relaxing and focusing on only the breath, and the sensations as it enters and leaves your body, you divert attention away from anxious, stressful thoughts. Mindfulness Based Practices can be as simple as taking a few moments to concentrate on your breath or it can be a full length meditation with guided imagery. Those who have followed me over the past year are familiar with the concept of meditation, its value in restoring and maintaining wellness, and it usefulness as a AntiAgeing method. I now wish to make one of MY core missions to help infuse meditation and mindfulness into mainstream medicine, helping both fellow practitioners and patients adapt this valuable practice into their lives. Mindfulness Meditation is a type of meditation that helps put focus on a very specific breath touch-point over an extended period of time.
As we age, we accumulate a series of reactions to the people, places, objects and situations. I know, that I was so preoccupied in my head I used to find myself struggling to remember conversations I partook in that very day. How can we take back our lives, start inhabiting more our bodies, start enjoying life regularly, start making every moment of our lives an opportunity of learning?
Meditation increases mindfulness by improving your brains ability to disregard frivolous information. For myself, I can thank my mindfulness practice for allowing me to handle difficult conversations with my husband more elegantly, without bringing up unhealthy past emotions and avoiding unproductive correspondence. I also find working with difficult clients or patients is easier as I can work harder to be fully present for them and not assume I know the reasoning behind their behavior. By acting intentionally, and with purpose, you also learn to engage in every other life activity more productivity.
You eat healthier as you begin to identify when you are REALLY hungry and  when you are misreading other emotions, such as being tired, irritable, sad, or anxious, for needing food. The practice of meditation, and the resulting mindfulness you adapt, can help us live life with an attitude of kindness and flexibility of perception. Your relationships will again improve, as you can explain yourself better and more confidently.
You ultimately become socially intelligent and make better decisions about how and with whom you interact.
Finally, this clarity of values will help get your actions in line with your beliefs, improving your ability to act in a way that favors your health and wellbeing (my favorite part!).
Those groups hanging on the beach or in the park are practicing a very valuable craft… please try out a qi going, tai chi or yoga class today! As you practice mindfulness, you will begin to experience life in new ways, which nurture our ability to learn and build a more profound intelligence library.

A regular mindful meditation practice helps to balance the high stimuli coming from the outside world with the place of stillness and wisdom within your soul. My mind is clearer and more focused, I have a deeper awareness of my subconscious chatter and drives, and I find this deep pleasure that comes in the silence of my mind and infinite peace always present. The reason why mindful meditation is ideal for individuals living busy lives is because to start, you really don’t need to add time into your day to practice.
For me, the ideal way to practice mindful meditation is in an environment that supports clarity.
Even if you are working on several projects at once, give your undivided attention to the tasks you are completing within your projects one at a time. This video is a real gem, it is from Oprah’s SuperSoul Sunday and it is the full episode, so it is 2 hours long, but well worth every minute of those two hours. I’ve found that meditation makes me happier, and the happier I am the more others like me. When you’re angry at someone, meditation can be very helpful because it makes you focus on the problem instead of the person. Entrepreneurs need to know themselves the same way Formula 1 racers need to know their cars.

I want to give you a bit more background on how meditation and the practice of being mindful, can help you live your everyday life more fully. It means you are not using emotions, anxieties, or state of stress to react to all that you encounter as you attempt to take part in your life. Worse yet, on several occasions while awake and driving, I found myself in unintended destinations. Living, without truly experiencing and inhabiting our bodies can be linked to disorders, such as overeating, anxiety, depression, ADD, heart disease, diabetes, pain, being overweight, hormone-related issues, fertility issues, lack of motivation, lack of energy, impaired ability to heal, inability to deal with stress, and skin problems.
Those who practice it regularly begin to output less stress hormones when encountering perceived stressful events.
This compassion has allowed me to do much better work, helping stay open and supportive so that I can provide the best environment for the the person I am helping to heal.
Being mindful around food can help prevent overeating and feelings of guilt and judgments in association to the act.
By paying attention to how you move, the intensity you do it in, and the skill you use in performing movements,  you can prevent accidents, burn more calories, and shape your body better while your at it. We consequentially realize that there is no “right ways of thinking.” We must be able to adapt and change our way of thinking as we move through life. Thinking like a baby will allow you to genuinely give others the benefit of the doubt, put yourself in their shoes, and accept others despite differences in perspectives. It does not replace a practice of daily mindfulness, but certainly exercises the brainpower for such practice. This may be a good start for those who are beginning their journey for heightened awareness and want to get some physical movement in as well.

It’s been magical, and I have been recording my practice and researching so much along the way ??  I am now teaching mindful meditation as part of all of my courses at Pleiadian Institute, a dream come true for me! Find regular moments throughout your day to connect with your body and become aware of your posture. If thoughts come up that elicit anger or fear, my practice is to witness the emotion and allow it to be.
As you pay attention to each thought you think throughout the day, you begin the practice of allowing your mind to reside in a still place.
There is a fascinating profile in the beginning of inmates practicing mindful meditation – so inspiring!! In this post I’ll be sharing why meditation helped me so much and how you can get started. Meditation is great for this, because nothing makes you more patient than being alone with your thoughts. Once you’re past the initial stages of starting a business and can hire people who are smarter than you to take care of different aspects of your company, your job is to define the vision for your business, get the right people on the bus and make sure the plan is executed as you expect it.
Mindfulness meditation is, in my experience, one of the best techniques for entrepreneurs and an excellent way to get started with meditation.
In mindfulness, we meditate or focus on only the present moment and we do so without judgment or criticism.
As a consequence, there is a rapidly expanding scientific literature documenting the effectiveness of mindfulness based practices. By making it a regular part of your daily routine, you should start to notice positive results within a few weeks. I recommend you try several as you will find that different speakers appeal to different people. Some people prefer soft music or nature sounds to a scripted or guided mediation and the Target selection includes more titles with nature sounds. If you'd like to try the yoga, you can select your fitness level and your fitness goals such as strength or flexibility.
The first two locations are non-denominational churches that welcome people of all faiths and beliefs. While training to be an Integrative Health Coach, my mentors at Duke University made sure I understood that the practice of meditation would be core to my ability to help others thrive. Instead, you are your most authentic self and using your mind as your ally to enjoy and accept anything that might present its self as you move through your day. This means while we may recognize the presence of sounds, sensations, thoughts or emotions, we attempt not to judge them, freeing our mind to “just be” and, in a way, rest.
We form these robot-like reactions from what we have ourselves experienced or by the information others have fed us in early childhood and beyond. As I began to experience the impact of mindless living on my overall quality of life, I began to inquire amongst my friends and peers, quickly learning that others had experienced similar bouts of confusion. This means the next time you are taking an exam, are working on an important project, or dealing with a difficult individual your body will not physically react, preserving otherwise compromised healthy functions. In fact, its better NOT to have a strategy of thinking and just act authentically as you live your life. By being able to clear up your head and really reach down into your core belief system, you will be able to identify your values and life objectives better. His method is evidence based in the practice of using meditation and mindfulness to decrease anxiety, improve mood, decrease anger, decrease confusion and decrease total stress scores.
I want to taste, feel, and experience life to the fullest.I want to be more effective, have less regrets, connect with more people, and live authentically! It is a practice guaranteed to change the readers perspective, quality of life and health forever. Mindful meditation is a simple daily practice that brings your focus on your inner awareness.

Today I have put together 7 tips that have helped me on my mindfulness journey ?? I hope these tips inspire you on your own mindfulness journey, what I know for sure is the rewards only deepen with practice.
When you are waking up in the morning, mindfully place your feet on the floor and feel your feet connecting with the ground.
I cleared clutter like it was my job and allowed only meaningful items into my spaces to inspire me, calm me and make me feel good.
And remember that as you work to bring your mind into focus, you also help all those around you to focus as well. Then as you watch your thoughts throughout the day notice how many of your thoughts are in alignment with these things.
Thich Nhat Hahn just embodies all that mindful meditation is, his words and the way he describes his personal practice have deepened my own practice in magical ways. I used to have serious anxiety episodes, and after three years of regular meditation I don’t really feel anxious anymore. So, basically, you spend most of your time thinking. When your job is to think, problem-solve and make decisions, the more clarity you have the better your decisions will be. But when you beat yourself over every mistake you make all you’re really doing is decreasing your self-esteem.
Research continues to reflect many significant benefits to both mental and physical health such as improving mood, stress, focus, concentration, sleep, blood pressure, inflammation, cholesterol, and chronic pain.
Barnes and Noble also has a large selection in their music section but ask a sales clerk for advice on your preferred format - music only or guided mediation with a speaker. The audio and video guides instruct and lead you through all the moves for a complete yoga session whether you are a beginner or more advanced.
Its scientific research using mindfulness was the basis for stress reduction clinics in medical centers across the United States.
I believe this to be a 100% true as I already feel more connected, more compassionate, and better able to listen and relate to others needs. This gives our brain a multitude of benefits, allowing our neuroendocrine system a nice break, and our authentic selves the ability to grow accustomed to being separated from our thoughts.
We use these reactions often without attempting to re-experience things authentically for ourselves. It helps you understand that just becasue these thought come from inside your head, they are not you!
I will not get into the exact physiological benefits in this post (:Meditation and the practice of being mindful allows you to live free from past and present brain-wiring (based on past experience or emotion). This new found creativity will allow you to be less judgmental, less stressed in the presence of those who challenge your old way of thinking, and help you discover solutions where they previously could not be seen. This practice has heightened people’s ability to deal with stress, live life in a way that is more core to values and beliefs, and with increased elegance and confidence. It is defined as a systematic method of meditation, inducing complete mental, physical and emotional relaxation while maintaining awareness at deeper levels. The purpose of mindful meditation is to develop a calm state of inner contentment; the practice can help you to navigate through challenging times in your life and can bring clarity and balance to your everyday routines. As you are walking to the bathroom, focus on clearing your mind and focus only on the steps you are taking. Clearing out all of my spaces was too much for me to handle all at once, so I started small. Imagine that there is a string pulling your spine straight up, feel your spine elongate, and then relax your shoulders. I listen and take note of the first response that emerges that feels good and right deep within.
Even without saying a word, your energy will shift, and as your energy shifts it is inevitable that over time the energy of all those that you come into contact with will shift as well. The cool thing about meditation is that it works beyond the time you spend meditating; it impacts everything you do in your life.
Our brain often gets tricked into using these preformed reactions as a way of energy conservation.
Furthermore, these thoughts do not represent reality or know anything about absolute truths..
As you eat your breakfast, lunch and dinner, focus on every bite of food and feel the food move down into your body giving it energy. I would create sacred altars in the corner of a room or in my favorite spot in my backyard. Our thoughts emerge from deep within our unconscious mind and are only reflections of our perceptions of the world.
Being compassionate to myself allowed me to learn from my mistakes without putting myself down every time.
This energy saving mode causes us to try and skip over what may be “unimportant” parts of life using brainless actions to move us through certain activities. Learning how to be mindful will help you assess situations at hand and put them into perspective without un-useful emotion or unproductive thoughts or fears. You can finally be free to choose your actions and reactions, giving you the control to act in co-ordinance with your true values and goals. When you are waiting in line or for your computer to load or in traffic, take time to bring your attention to your breath. I now understand that I’ll keep making mistakes my whole life and all I can do is learn from them. In this process we miss out on many important and beautiful moments, we avoid engaging certain situations and people in fear of certain unfounded risks, we choose to be anxious when really unnecessary to do so, and we unconsciously rely on the adaption of some not so helpful reactions to people, situations, and things to keep us safe.
This is super useful when you have to speak or work with someone you are normally emotionally charged to. However, make this sacred space somewhere that is convenient for you and somewhere that you already spend time.
Once I had complete control of my work and home environment, I created sacred spaces that are conducive to a meditative practice all day long.
And remember, this is a lifelong practice, as you have compassion with your own thoughts, clarity and focus will naturally arise in greater and greater proportions in your life.
Your mindful meditation practice will allow you to engage in difficult situations with much more control, avoiding the use of regretful actions or words. For example, if you spend alot of time in the kitchen preparing meals, dedicate this time to be your meditation time. Bring sacred music or a sacred object into your car and use your travel time to mindfully meditate.
Think of every single moment that is in your day as a gift and an opportunity to change your life and it will become easier and easier to integrate mindful meditation techniques into your daily routines. When you begin the regular practice of focusing on your breath you create the foundation for mindful living.
Because of this we often begin and end each day with little thought, getting dressed, driving, eating, and working with ever being in full attention of what we are doing.
